Cultural Center Progress

Construction Begins!

     Belgium, WI, December 13, 2007:  Excavation recently began on construction of the 4,200 square foot Luxembourg American Cultural Center being built by the Luxembourg American Cultural Society,Inc.  This initial activity is intended to get the structure “out of the ground” before winter sets in and construction is suspended.  Once winter breaks in a few months, construction will commence again in full force.

     Phase one of the Luxembourg American Cultural Center will include the Roots and Leaves Museum, Krier Family Wëllkomm Centre, and administrative building for the Cultural Society.  Fundraising efforts continue for the $1.3 million Roots and Leaves Capital Campaign.  $711,000 has been raised in pledges and gifts with $589,000 still needed to achieve the Capital Campaign goal.  Pledges and contributions to the Cultural Center’s Roots & Leaves Capital Campaign are still welcome.  Contact the LACS at 262-355-5758 or kwester@luxamculturalsociety.org.  The Luxembourg American Cultural Society is a 501(c)(3) corporation. Donations to the project are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

December 27, 2007 - Administration Building Foundation

    In addition to money collected through the Capital Campaign, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture has given a $500,000 in-kind gift which is being used to fund the fabrication of interior exhibits and furnishings for the Roots and Leaves Museum.  A. N. Ansay & Associates, Inc. of Port Washington, Wisconsin has donated the land for the Cultural Center that will be located in the New Luxembourg Development.

    The Luxembourg American Cultural Center is a collaborative venture between the Luxembourg American Cultural Society and the Grand Duchy’s Ministry for Culture along with the Roots and Leaves Society of Luxembourg.  The Luxembourg American Cultural Society was founded in 2004 and numbers 570 members in 40 US states and the countries of Luxembourg, Belgium, England and Switzerland.
