Oktoberfest

St. Mary's High School
523 Madison Street
Remsen (Plymouth County), IA
 51050

Remsen, Iowa is located in Northwestern, Iowa and has been affectionately dubbed “Iowa’s Little Luxembourg”.  Remsen’s annual Oktoberfest is a village wide festival which includes a unique blend of Luxembourg and Bavarian foods and traditions.  Along with Luxembourg “treipen” there are brats, German potato salad, polka music, a beer garden, and arts and crafts.  The large, family-style, ethnic Luxembourgish meal is served by Remsenites donned in Bavarian garb.  Starting with humble beginnings in 1974, Remsen’s Oktoberfest now serves over 2,500 people the last Saturday in October.  Everyone is invited and welcome to attend!
