The Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin (LSW) was founded in 1977 by Anita (Kultgen) Becker and Dorothy (Schanen) Simpson. Its goal is the preservation of Luxembourg culture, history, heritage and genealogy in the Ozaukee County region of Wisconsin. The LSW sponsors quarterly programs that celebrate the uniqueness of being a Luxembourg American. All are invited to attend these events yet reservations are necessary for events involving a meal. For the exact dates and places of events, contact LSW President, Bea Krier, at 262-285-3152 or visit the LACS Calendar of Event.

Special Quarterly Programs of the LSW:
Fuesicht (Traditional Luxembourg Mardi Gras) – The ancient tradition of Fuesicht (mardi gras) is celebrated in Luxembourg beginning on February 2 (Candle Mass Day) through the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday (Shrove Tuesday). The LSW celebrates Fuesicht on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday. Come in costume and join in the fun!
Luxembourg National Day – Luxembourg National Day celebrates the birthday of Grand Duke Henri. National Day is celebrated in the Grand Duchy on June 23. The Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin annually celebrates Luxembourg National Day on Father’s Day.
Kirmes (Traditional Luxembourg Feast Day of a Parish Church) – On the second Sunday of September, the Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin annually celebrates Kirmes. The celebration rotates between parishes in northern Ozaukee County. The event includes a Mass and dinner.
St. Nicholas Day (December 6th) – The Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin celebrates this favorite Luxembourgian saint’s day on the second Sunday of December. St. Nicholas appears at the event and gives out treats to “good girls and boys” while his side kick “Black Peter” has a switch along for those who have behaved badly.
