Vital statistic records as well as parish records were presented in regard to their structure and content so as to read and interpret them. Basic French, German and Latin vocabulary from records were also explained. |

The first annual Luxembourg American Cultural Conference was held on Friday, August 10th at the historic Ozaukee County Courthouse in Port Washington, WI. Nearly 150 people attended the first every cultural conference. The conference had educational and general interest topics for those who wanted to learn more about Luxembourg heritage and culture and its influence in America.
This year's keynote speaker was Georges Calteux, former Director of Sites and Monuments in Luxembourg. Calteux was instrumental in getting the LACC project started and is providing content for the Roots and Leaves Museum. Concurrent workshops for adults and special activities for children followed the keynote address. Speakers from the United States and Luxembourg were Guy Dockendorf, Jean Ensch, Georges Faber, Fausto Gardini, Brigitte Goergen, Kristine Horner, Marie-Pierre Schambourg, Paul Schmit and Joan Thiry. Topics include touring Luxembourg, genealogy, Luxembourg economics and business, family history and other related subjects.
